With his personal problems behind him, Shawn Michaels was about to embark on an all to familiar journey. Shawn returned home to where he belongs; the squared circle. The Piledriver Report examines Shawn Michaels first two years back in the ring.

After getting himself cleaned out, and making amends with Triple H, Shawn Michaels was getting the itch to make a return to the ring. That return would come on June 3rd’s edition of Monday Night RAW when Kevin Nash introduced the “Heartbreak Kid” as the newest member of the New World Order. On June 10th, Shawn Michaels helped lead the charge in kicking Booker T out of the group after the future “King” wanted to perform the spinarooni to his own music. The new nWo did not last long. On July 8th’s RAW, the main event featured a five on five match-up between Kevin Nash, X-Pac, the Big Show, Chris Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero against Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Goldust, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Spike Dudley. That’s what we do,” said WWE Wrestler Shawn Michaels. “There was also a certain badge of honor in being one of those guys that could go out there, tear down that house in front of those people and then go and run all night, then get up the next day and do it again. You wore that like a badge of honor.”

From the time world wrestling entertainment superstar Shawn Michaels was in high school, there was no greater badge of honor to be earned than to wear a championship belt as a professional wrestler. It consumed every part of his life, and eventually his pursuit of the belt consumed him.

“I just couldn’t get enough of it. And I just knew that that was what I wanted to do. The hard part obviously was trying to convince everybody else that I wanted to do it,” Shawn said.

Hey everyone, I watched 700 Club yesterday and Shawn wasn’t on. I’m going to watch it all this week and see if they mention him again, but they had some baseball player in his place so I don’t know what’s going on there. I did email them but I didn’t hear back.

For months, Batista has had one thing on his mind: Winning the World Heavyweight Championship. After arriving on Raw as a part of the 2008 WWE Draft, The Animal immediately set his sights on new World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, and though he dominated matches against the Straightedge Superstar, the title always eluded him. More recently, Batista struggled with another former World Heavyweight Champion, JBL, as both of them believed themselves uniquely worthy of competing for the title. At No Mercy, The Animal demolished JBL with a Batista Bomb, becoming the No. 1 contender to Jericho’s title.

Batista comes to the battle at Cyber Sunday viewing the World Heavyweight Champion not just as another competitor, but as a hated enemy. In the first ever World Heavyweight Championship Scramble, The Animal had all but sealed his victory, after laying out and pinning Kane with moments to spare. But in the final seconds of the contest, the cagey Chris Jericho dragged himself across the Big Red Monster, still lying prone from The Animal’s attack, to score the final pinfall and become the World Heavyweight Champion.

When these two ring warriors collide at Cyber Sunday, the referee presiding over the contest will be a Superstar capable of swinging the match in either athlete’s favor. It could be Shawn Michaels, who narrowly lost a World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match to the conniving Jericho at No Mercy. Or perhaps the recuperating Randy Orton, who plans on seizing the title for himself as soon as he is fully recovered. It might even be the legendary Texas Rattlesnake, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, making a rare appearance in the ring. It’s all up to you, the WWE Universe, as you text your votes in from now up until the night of Cyber Sunday.

Chris Jericho is in charge of Raw tonight and he says that Shawn must face Lance Cade in a No-DQ match.

Shawn Michaels is with Todd Grisham in the locker room. Todd with a monologue about what Shawn has going for him tonight against Lance Cade. Shawn wonders if he should go and beg Chris Jericho that he does not want to compete because he is sore and in pain? Shawn asks Todd if he has a better question. He wants Todd to ask Chris if he is going to defend the title tonight. He doesn’t think Chris will. Instead, Lance Cade is being sent in to do the dirty work and finish him off. Shawn says that he is going to show Chris Jericho and Lance Cade that he still has plenty of gas in the tank.

Michaels and Cade exchange punches. Cade throws Michaels out of the ring and then Cade gets a table. Cade hot shots Michaels on the announce table and then he punches Michaels on the floor. Cade sets up the table on the floor. Cade punches Michaels and then he sends Michaels through the table with a spinebuster. Cade picks up Michaels and then he rolls him back into the ring. Cade gets a chair and brings it into the ring. Michaels attacks Cade and punches him before Cade can use the chair. Michaels hits Cade with the chair and then he hits Cade a few dozen more times in the torso. The referee tries to beg Michaels to stop and then Michaels gets the three count.
Winner: Shawn Michaels

After the match, the referee checks on Cade who is face down on the mat. Michaels goes after Cade with more chair shots to the body. Shawn tosses the chair out of the ring and he walks to the back in a semi-catatonic condition. We go to commercial.
