Jim Ross Talks About Shawn’s New DVD
Posted by DJ on March 10th, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross -- Comment on this Post [10]

Jim Ross talked about Shawn’s new DVD in his latest blog:

Fans of HBK or wrestling in general should grab the new Shawn Michaels DVD that is available today (Tuesday). I’ve seen it, I love it and it brings back a truck load of memories. I only wish I had been available to be the one interviewing Shawn for this project but that apparently wasn’t an option. Buy the DVD and I promise that you will love the amazing array of bouts that, arguably, the best in the biz today, performed in on a high level even when he was a hot headed kid. I remember Shawn from his first territory and even remember the big Cowboy fining Shawn right after Shawn made his Mid South debut for inadvertently missing a TV taping because he did not know that EVERYONE came to TV whether their name was on the booking sheet or not.

Jim Ross Mentions Shawn in Today’s Blog

Jim Ross mentioned Shawn in today’s blog:

Shawn Michaels and I talked at length Monday about a variety of topics including the Mid South days in OKC when the wrestlers used to wrestle at the Myriad, still across the street from the Ford Center and renamed, every other Sunday at 2 p.m. and then they would drive the 100 miles to Tulsa via the Turner Turnpike to tape two, one hour Mid South Wrestling TV shows beginning at 7 p.m. Shawn is another extraordinary athlete and a man who I respect so much and who has maintained his amazingly high level of performances inside the ring even though he’s north of 40. It’s hard to name many men ever who have been better in the ring in any era and especially in a big match environment that HBK. I sure can’t.

If fans don’t invest in WM26 to see Undertaker vs. Michaels 2, one has to wonder why. As mentioned earlier, I hope to be in Arizona to witness WM26 live but I wouldn’t miss the event on PPV for any thing.

Jim Ross Talks About Shawn/Raw

Jim Ross talked about the amazing video package for Shawn/Undertaker on Raw last night:

Music has become such a large part of the wrestling scene and that fact was never more evident than the choice of music used in the HBK-Undertaker video package Monday night. I Tweeted (JRsBBQ) about this seconds after I saw it and I will willingly go into a hyperbole-free zone to say it was one of the best vignettes that I can ever remember seeing on a wrestling, TV show. Ever.

He also talked about Shawn in his latest Q&A’s:

John Morrison & Jim Ross Talk About Shawn
Posted by DJ on February 20th, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross, Mentions -- Comment on this Post [1]

In an interview with The Baltimore Sun, John Morrison mentioned Shawn:

HBK [Shawn Michaels] told me and Joey Mercury a story when we first started and we were kind of asking him for advice. We were a little bit frustrated with our position at the time because we wanted more time on TV…He said, ‘Right time, right place…Ten years ago I asked ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage the same thing, and Macho Man told me, [imitating Savage] ‘Don’t take yourself out of the game, kid.’’ And that’s what he told us. As weird as it sounds, I think that’s exactly the right advice for sports entertainment…As long as you keep improving and you’re there and the fans are responding to you, sooner or later you’re not going to be denied anymore.”

Jim Ross talked about Shawn in his WWE blog, JR’s 10 Questions to Ponder for WWE Elimination Chamber

Why is it that when Shawn Michaels isn’t on Raw that it feels as if the show is missing something?

HBK is going through some challenging times professionally and I hope that he gets his dream match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but right now it looks as if that one is an eternity away. As the esteemed Michael Cole would say, HBK is “VINTAGE.”

Thanks to Amanda for these:

From JR’s 10 Questions To Ponder:

8. Is anyone else concerned about Shawn Michaels’ “obsession” with facing The Undertaker in “THE Rematch” at WrestleMania, and to what lengths will HBK go to facilitate this “magnificent obsession?” Shawn is an avid hunter (and JR’s Beef Jerky fan) but The Deadman is without question HBK’s most dangerous prey. Will somehow trying to make sure that this match happens be Shawn Michaels’ “last hunt”?

And from JR’s Q&A:

Jim Ross Talks About Shawn’s Road To Wrestlemania
Posted by DJ on February 4th, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross -- Comments Off

Jim Ross talked about Shawn’s Wrestlemania journey in his latest blog:

HBK’s highway to WM26 seemed to become a gravel road Monday night as it’s obvious that Shawn Michaels is “obsessed” with facing the Undertaker at ‘Mania again. If or how Shawn gets there should make for some intriguing TV over the next few weeks. It’s obvious that many fans want the ultimate return match but do we always get what we want?

Jim Ross Talks About DX/Royal Rumble
Posted by DJ on January 29th, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross, Mentions -- Comments Off

Jim Ross talked about DX in his latest WWE Universe blog:

Will DX “always be friends” after this Sunday’s Rumble match? Long term and lasting friendships in WWE are challenging especially when highly competitive and motivated individuals have the same agenda. If there’s a break up who gets custody of Hornswoggle? I say give guardianship to “Uncle Fink.”

Who do I want to win the Royal Rumble match? That’s an easy one this year. I desperately want to see an encore presentation of the Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at WM26 in the desert so I’m hanging my black hat on HBK winning the Rumble match come Sunday. Odds are that Shawn won’t win this grueling contest but he has before and a win here would not only give us a magnificent WM26 main event but would more than solidify Shawn Michaels, magnificent Hall of Fame Career.

Jim Ross Makes His Pick For The Royal Rumble
Posted by DJ on January 27th, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross -- Comments Off

Jim Ross made his pick for the Royal Rumble match this Sunday:

Been asked by many emailers who I want to see win the Rumble Match this Sunday in Atlanta. That would be Shawn Michaels because I want to see HBK vs. the Undertaker at WM26. However, are we all assuming that ‘Taker walks over Rey Mysterio in their World Title match at the Rumble PPV? What if Rey wins the title and HBK doesn’t win the Rumble? Do we still get the rematch many of us want to see? I love the intrigue and will be tuned in to the PPV Sunday considering that I won’t be any where near Hotlanta….unfortunately. I love that city and lived there many years while with WCW .

Jim Ross Talks About DX on Raw

Jim Ross talked about DX’s promo on Monday’s Raw:

The serious nature of winning the Royal Rumble match and what it means individually to every competitor was underscored with Monday Night’s DX in ring promo. This was another verbal exchange that captured my interest. DX in a serious tone really captivated my attention.

Thanks to Molly for sending me this mention of Shawn in JR’s Q&A section:

Hey JR! On screen Shawn Michaels and Triple H seem like Best Friends. Backstage are they the same way?? Do they talk and hang out?? After all they have been working together for along time. And i know that you answered another question saying that backstage is not a “town square?” what does that mean? Thanks -Annie

J.R.’s Answer:
HHH and HBK are great friends. The “town square” comment refers to there not being a common area in an arena where every one “hangs out.”
