Report From Yesterday’s Signing
Posted by DJ on February 28th, 2010. Filed in Appearances -- Comment on this Post [3]

This is a report posted on PWInsider.com from a fan who went to the Shawn signing yesterday. If anyone went & would like to send me a report please do!

I went to the Shawn Michaels autograph signing in Fort Worth and it was in this huge outdoorsman-type store. There were guns, tents, boats, ect… the table was set up in a room in the far back full of deer hears and whatnot. We showed up at about 11:35 with about 100 people already in line. 12:20 rolled around when Shawn and Rebecca finally arrived and things got underway quickly. I only found out about this signing about 30 hours ahead of time so I had no 8×10s or anything I’d want to get. I decided to steal an idea from TNA’s website and have him sign a brand new authentic baseball since I am a huge fan of the sport anyway. He wasn’t rude with anyone but seemed to be going through the motions but was pretty cool to the kids and Rebecca offered to take the pictures of people who asked.

On a funny side note, one of the young local indy wrestlers was there ahead of us in line, once we got to the table we saw he had actually given HBK an autographed picture of himself, along with a demo DVD, I couldn’t believe what I had just saw!)

Wrestlemania 26 Almanac Interview

Thanks to Emma for typing this up & sending it to me :)

Starting The Show

(Shawn’s WrestleMania 12 entrance)

Q. How did the idea for this unforgettable entrance come about?

I was told before the show that WWE wanted me to do a big entrance. I was told about coming down on a rope or something. But at In Your House, I swung off of the house from a rope. For WrestleMania, I envisioned swinging from the entrance to the ring, going maybe 12 or 15 feet off the ground. I didn’t really have any idea what it was going to be when I got to the arena.

Jim Ross Talks About Shawn/Raw
Posted by DJ on February 23rd, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross, Mentions -- Comment on this Post [29]

Jim Ross talked about the amazing video package for Shawn/Undertaker on Raw last night:

Music has become such a large part of the wrestling scene and that fact was never more evident than the choice of music used in the HBK-Undertaker video package Monday night. I Tweeted (JRsBBQ) about this seconds after I saw it and I will willingly go into a hyperbole-free zone to say it was one of the best vignettes that I can ever remember seeing on a wrestling, TV show. Ever.

He also talked about Shawn in his latest Q&A’s:

Notes From The Figure Four Newsletter

Regarding turning the Undertaker accident into a storyline, there was talk in the afternoon of turning this into an angle, claiming Michaels was responsible, but that was shot down. Realistically it was completely unnecessary and would have distracted from an otherwise awesome segment.

WWE on Raw added the stipulation that if Shawn Michaels does not beat Undertaker he will be forced to retire. Michaels has been talking retirement for a few years now, and in a recent interview claimed he’d been trying to retire for three years and WWE kept bringing him back. He’s gone back and forth on this decision as he did tell the company a few years back that this WrestleMania would be his last, but he also told friends that as long as he had time off in the summer he’d be OK wrestling part time for many more years. They’re going to abide by this stipulation at least to a degree, so either Shawn is finished for the time being after Mania (and he’ll be taking at least several months off regardless), or Taker is dropping the streak to him and perhaps getting ready to wrap up his own career. The streak is one of those things that is very real to a lot of fans, so this is a strong money stipulation, though obviously not as strong as it would be if people actually believed that retirements in wrestling are real (Flair back in the ring March 8th isn’t going to help matters).

Both Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are off all line-ups after WrestleMania this year. Provided one or the other or both don’t retire I would expect this to be a regular thing from this point forward.

DX is pretty much done for the time being. They’ve been removed from the Raw open as a unit although HHH and Shawn are both in their individually. Hornswoggle is also out of the opener. DX was a last ditch effort to get something out of him as a character so that might not be good, but he’s also super over with the kids so I expect they’ll keep him on doing something.

Preview:The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
Posted by DJ on February 23rd, 2010. Filed in PPV Preview -- Comment on this Post [3]

At WrestleMania, The Undertaker will put his 17-0 undefeated streak on the line against Shawn Michaels’ storybook career, in a rematch so highly anticipated and potentially explosive that it could only occur on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

The showdown between The Demon of Death Valley and HBK at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania one year ago had seemed like destiny. The Phenom – never bested in the history of WWE’s greatest pay-per-view – would finally clash with Mr. WrestleMania himself. Although The Deadman ultimately reigned supreme over Michaels in a match many consider as one of the greatest of all time, the epic battle only fueled their mutual legend as well as the WWE Universe’s insatiable thirst for a return confrontation.
