Jan 30th House Show Results
Posted by DJ on January 31st, 2010. Filed in House Show Results -- Comments Off

From Macon, GA:

DX and Kofi defeated Orton, Rhodes and DiBiase as all 3 got to hit their finishers. Crowd was really into Michaels and HHH. At one point in the match members of the Legacy all got their trunks pulled down for an impromptu “moon over Macon”. Michaels and HHH did a great job of shaking hands with the fans and high fiving everyone.

Royal Rumble History

I went through the results of all the Royal Rumble events on Wikipedia & listed all of Shawn’s stats on the Royal Rumble History page.

My numbers are slightly different than the numbers that were in the Observer, and I’m not really sure why :(

Smackdown Results

With just two nights until the Royal Rumble (full coverage), Unified Tag Team Champions D-Generation X found themselves in fierce singles competition against two of SmackDown’s most electrifying Superstars, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio.

DX comes to SmackDown / SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long shakes things up
Triple H and Shawn Michaels journeyed to SmackDown ready to defend their Unified Tag Team Titles against CM Punk and Luke Gallows. However, after a strong exchange of words between all involved – as well as from the No. 1 Contender to the World Heavyweight Championship Rey Mysterio – SmackDown GM Teddy Long decided to seize the opportunity to change things up. Instead of tag team action, Mysterio would go one-on-one with HBK for the first time ever on SmackDown, while The King of Kings would lock horns with The Straightedge Superstar.

It is true that DX’s week started off in the right direction with a win over The Legacy on Raw, but by the end of SmackDown, things weren’t looking so good.

Jim Ross Talks About DX/Royal Rumble
Posted by DJ on January 29th, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross, Mentions -- Comments Off

Jim Ross talked about DX in his latest WWE Universe blog:

Will DX “always be friends” after this Sunday’s Rumble match? Long term and lasting friendships in WWE are challenging especially when highly competitive and motivated individuals have the same agenda. If there’s a break up who gets custody of Hornswoggle? I say give guardianship to “Uncle Fink.”

Who do I want to win the Royal Rumble match? That’s an easy one this year. I desperately want to see an encore presentation of the Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at WM26 in the desert so I’m hanging my black hat on HBK winning the Rumble match come Sunday. Odds are that Shawn won’t win this grueling contest but he has before and a win here would not only give us a magnificent WM26 main event but would more than solidify Shawn Michaels, magnificent Hall of Fame Career.

Ring Posts 2009 Match Of The Year
Posted by DJ on January 28th, 2010. Filed in Misc News -- Comments Off

Ring Posts named the rest of the 2009 awards & Shawn/Undertaker won Match of the Year:

MATCH OF THE YEAR: THE UNDERTAKER VS. SHAWN MICHAELS (WrestleMania XXV, April 5, Houston, Texas)

The showdown between the man who is undefeated at WrestleMania and the man known as Mr. WrestleMania for his showing-stealing performances at the event more than lived up to the hype. The 44-year-old Undertaker and 43-year-old Michaels delivered a match for the ages in what perhaps was the greatest contest in WrestleMania history. Even though the majority of fans and observers were pretty certain going into the match that The Undertaker would win, the two savvy veterans took the audience on a roller-coaster ride and succeeded in making the unthinkable – Undertaker losing for the first time at WrestleMania – seem possible after all. The match featured non-stop action, strong ring psychology, thrilling false finishes and a near-tragic over-the-top-rope dive by The Undertaker. In the end The Undertaker’s undefeated record at WrestleMania grew – he pinned Michaels at approximately the 31-minute mark to improve to 17-0 – and so did Michaels’ reputation as Mr. WrestleMania and The Showstopper.

Jim Ross Makes His Pick For The Royal Rumble
Posted by DJ on January 27th, 2010. Filed in Jim Ross -- Comments Off

Jim Ross made his pick for the Royal Rumble match this Sunday:

Been asked by many emailers who I want to see win the Rumble Match this Sunday in Atlanta. That would be Shawn Michaels because I want to see HBK vs. the Undertaker at WM26. However, are we all assuming that ‘Taker walks over Rey Mysterio in their World Title match at the Rumble PPV? What if Rey wins the title and HBK doesn’t win the Rumble? Do we still get the rematch many of us want to see? I love the intrigue and will be tuned in to the PPV Sunday considering that I won’t be any where near Hotlanta….unfortunately. I love that city and lived there many years while with WCW .
