Poll: Shawn’s Return to WWE

Hey everyone, let me know what you think about Shawn’s return to WWE and how you want it to go:

When Shawn returns, do you want it to be a surprise?

Yes, I want him to show up and kick someone in the head
No, I’d rather they build up his return with a few weeks of promos
I don’t care, as long as he comes back SOON!

WWE Needs Shawn Back Now!

This is from ProWrestling.net:

Triple H and Shawn Michaels have been credited by some colleagues for weeding out some of the campy comedy that Vince and his writers favor during the production meetings. Hunter has been at the recent Raw shows, but one observer noted that Hunter isn’t as emotionally attached to the product when he’s not wrestling. In other words, he might be saving his objections for when he returns to television.

John Morrison Mentions Shawn

John Morrison was interviewed by Press Connects in Binghamton, NY and mentioned Shawn:

What inspired me to become a pro wrestler? The fans. When I was a kid growing up, I was a huge fan of pro wrestling, HBK, Macho Man, Hulk Hogan, the Ultimate Warrior, all those guys.

Jim Ross Mentions Shawn

Jim Ross addressed the ridiculous rumors that Shawn and Undertaker have retired since they haven’t been on TV in a while.

There are NO plans for EITHER the Undertaker or Shawn Michaels to retire any time soon. Stop the pain and please stop the emails about this matter. When either man does decide to say adiós there will be a HUGE deal made of it. Both men will be back in action in 2009 and no I don’t have the exact date and likely no one does as we speak.

Many raise hell about wrestling having no (off) season, I fully understand their point, and then when wrestlers take much deserved and needed time off it becomes a major issue with conspiracy theory implications. Of course these absences could perhaps be better explained on TV but that’s simply not the direction that has been set forth.

Update On How Long Shawn May Be Out

This is from the Wrestling Observer newsletter.

Not that I expect it will turn out this way, but Michaels told the office he’s looking at taking more time off than originally planned. The idea is that he’s financially set for life and his kids are at a certain age where they like him around, and he knows that’s a very short window. I can really see where he’s coming from. The original idea was for him to return at SummerSlam, but he asked to stay off until late this year or early 2010, wanting to come back for a good Mania angle. Remember that in 2007, Michaels was talking about not coming back for a long time after knee problems. Then Cena tore his pec, and his wife joked with him that he’s getting the phone call. The next day he got the phone call and he was back in the ring way early. He’s also made noises about retiring at Mania, but at other times he’s said he doesn’t see why he can’t make occasional big show appearances like Flair and Hogan until well into his 50s, and that’s a long way away. He’s also noted that once his kids are teenagers, being at home so much won’t be as important as his kids won’t want to be hanging around him so much, and at that point he’d be more open to spending more time on the road.

Let the meltdowns begin.

Shawn Is Advertised Locally For Raw

Shawn is once again advertised for Raw tonight in Louisville, KY. This doesn’t mean he will appear because these press releases are sent out in advance. Triple H is also advertised. I just thought I’d post this because I’m sure it will be mentioned in the chatbox.

Shawn Notes From Jim Ross’ Q&A

Thanks to Molly for sending in some Shawn notes from JR’s latest Q&A’s:

Oh and also J.R., where has the Headliner, the Showstopper, the Main Event, Mr. WrestleMania, the Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels been? Thanks.

In San Antonio resting, healing and spending time with family. He’ll be back.

Hey Jr. As we saw a part in HeartBreak kid triumph, Does Hbk rally wears that support for his back which i somewhere near his hips???

Shawn has serious lower back issues and need all the support the equipment can provide him. He’s in constant pain which is why this hiatus after WM25 was so imperative.

Randy Orton Mentions Shawn

Randy Orton briefly mentioned Shawn when talking about his own match at Wrestlemania this year in a UK Sun article:

Q: Did you try to talk Vince out of those rules or change the match in any way?

A: No, because I was happy with the match. I really was. The crowd in the arena had seen three and half hours of wrestling and, not only that, they had seen some very good wrestling. Shawn Michaels and Undertaker put on a hell of a performance, the Money In The Bank match was crazy and a lot of guys did some death-defying manoeuvres. When you do that and then you have this match with two guys who can’t be outside of the ring for more than 10 seconds, you kinda screw yourself. You’ve backed yourself into a corner where it’s going to be hard to outperform the matches that went before you. I think our storyline and what our match was all about deserved to be the main-event match on WrestleMania. But I think that the restraints and stipulations around the match made it harder on us than it should have been.
