Post Courier: Shawn Michaels taking much-needed break
Posted by DJ on April 26th, 2009. Filed in Articles -- Comment on this Post [15]

Very few performers in the business today have the ability to single-handedly affect the quality of a pro wrestling show and the quality of a pro wrestling company.

Shawn Michaels is one of them, and he looks to be out of action for the next few months.

Reports have surfaced that Michaels, who has not appeared on WWE television since his Wrestlemania 25 match against The Undertaker three weeks ago, is taking some time off.

Shawn dropped to number 8 in the WWE Power 25 this week:

Since The Showstopper’s loss to Undertaker at WrestleMania, HBK has not appeared on any show, which leaves us to wonder what he is planning to do next and when he’ll make his return.

Jim Ross Mentions Shawn
Posted by DJ on April 24th, 2009. Filed in Jim Ross -- Comment on this Post [5]

Jim Ross briefly mentioned Shawn in today’s WWE.com blog:

John Morrison, a Smackdown wrestler, is being compared by some WWE fans as a young Shawn Michaels. I hope that Morrison succeeds in becoming another HBK but it won’t be easy as HBK’s don’t grow on trees.

Jim Ross Talks About Shawn’s Time Off
Posted by DJ on April 23rd, 2009. Filed in Jim Ross -- Comment on this Post [2]

Jim Ross mentioned Shawn a few times in his blog today:

Speaking of younger stars becoming main eventers, we have been receiving a great deal of mail that John Morrison reminds many fans of a young HBK. Interesting comparison and I hope that these fans are on the money with their observation. HBK, who will be back in action in a few months, is one of the most extraordinary performers in the history of the business and for Morrison to reach that level it will take tremendous effort, focus, and a fair amount of luck. For the sake of the biz and the fans, I am all for John Morrison becoming the next HBK but it obviously won’t be easy. I suggest that John Morrison simply be the best John Morrison that he can become and call it a day. I’m damned happy Morrison is on Friday Night Smackdown nonetheless.

We received a few inquiries lately about, of all things, the 1997 Montreal Survivor Series involving Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. I have run out of things to say about this matter that occurred 12 years ago. Can we move on from this unfortunate issue that I personally wish had never occurred?

Another fan asked me if I thought that Bret and Shawn would ever “make up” and “get along” someday. I doubt if they will ever spend any quality time with each other if that’s what you want to know but I also assume that both men are ready to move forward and focus on other facets in their lives than philosophical differences that occurred over a decade ago. As comedian Ron White would say, “Let it go.”

Update on Shawn’s Return – Up To 3 Months Off?
Posted by DJ on April 22nd, 2009. Filed in Misc News -- Comment on this Post [24]

The Observer has a little note about Shawn’s time off this week:

Shawn Michaels is scheduled to be out of action for a little while since his knees have been really banged up of late. With Raw being so loaded on the babyface side right now with the Batista return, it’s probably the best time for him to take time off. No word about his return but it’s been speculated inside the company it could be as long as until late July, for the start of the build-up of SummerSlam.

Jim Ross Addresses Rumors
Posted by DJ on April 22nd, 2009. Filed in Jim Ross -- Comments Off

Jim Ross posted a new blog, addressing the ridiculous rumors of Shawn’s retirement because of him not being on TV for a few weeks:

The upcoming Fall tours by WWE in Europe entitled “The Rest in Peace Tour” and “The DX Reunion Tour” are NOT retirement tours. When any major star such as HBK or the Undertaker finally decides to hang ‘em up don’t you think that WWE will make a HUGE deal out of it just as they should? This announcement won’t come courtesy of a ring announcer as part of his obligatory announcements at a live event somewhere on the road.
