I got the book “Shoot First, Ask Questions Later” by James Guttman from my local library and the final chapter was made up of interview transcripts from different wrestlers responding to the question “If you could choose to wrestle anyone, who would you pick and why?”

This is easy because I just loved- I thought he was wonderful, he was fun backstage, fun during a match when I worked opposite him – and that was Shawn Michaels. He and I are friends. I always respected him. But I think his work is …impeccable. My idea would have something where Dustin was mistreating me as Goldust. And Shawn, being a chivalrous, top-ranking soul, would have come to my rescue and I would have gone with him for a while and done some angles with him. I loved the way he worked. That would have been one person I would have loved to work with that I never got the chance to.

*WWE champ Triple H & Shawn Michaels & John Cena defeated Randy Orton & Chris Jericho & Vladimir Kozlov. At first there was no HHH and Orton claimed on the mic that Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase had taken care of him. It started out as a handicap match. Late in the match, there was a ref bump. Orton teased the punt kick but Triple H’s music came on. He hit the ring and tackled Orton. He grabbed a sledgehammer but Kozlov cut him off. HHH laid out Kozlov, then chased Orton off. Jericho teased hitting Michaels with a chair but HHH returned and teased hitting the sledgehammer. Jericho went to drop the chair and Michaels superkicked him. Jericho staggered into the FU for the pin. Good main event.

“Well, I no longer have Shawn Michaels and somehow now I don’t get to wrestle Undertaker at Mania. Well, I still believe I am destined to do something great at Mania so-tune in Monday Night and you will see my plan start to unfold.”

Ted Dibiase Sr. mentioned Shawn in a UK Sun article:
“I missed wrestling when I watched Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair last year at WrestleMania. In my opinion, they stole the show. A good old-school classic wrestling match. Moments like that make me miss wrestling.”

MVP also mentioned Shawn in Powerslam magazine:
Q: You’ve been attached to SmackDown since August 2006 when you were called up from then-WWE developmental territory Deep South Wrestling. Would you like to one day be a Raw wrestler?

A: Every year, the WWE has a draft, and everyone is eligible, as we saw with J.R. being drafted from Raw to SmackDown (in June 2008). Who would have believed that would ever happen? So I can’t imagine I won’t at some point end up on Raw. I feel I’d have some bang-up matches with Shawn Michaels, John Cena and Chris Jericho.

Shawn Michaels is my favorite wrestler. He’s the reason I got in the business. There are many that I think are absolutely awesome and super-talented, but I can honestly say the main reason I got into wrestling was because of Shawn Michaels.

Following Shawn Michaels’ win over JBL, Vladimir Kozlov appeared, brutally attacking HBK. Michaels will face the undefeated Moscow Mauler on the next Raw to determine which of the ring warriors will go on to face Undertaker at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania.
