WWE will have a new show debuting in April 2009 on WGN. WWE Superstars will be a first run show, which means it will not be a magazine or clip style show, but more like a Sunday Night Heat or Velocity style show,
and will air at 8PM and 11PM on Thursday nights, and replay on Saturday.
*I don’t know if Shawn will ever appear on this show, but if he does, I will do my best to get a copy of whatever it may be for the site*
Thanks to Madeline for the heads up on this!
Stephanie McMahon was interviewed by Congress last year regarding the abuse of steroids in wrestling. She mentions Shawn (not by name, but this is something that I reported when people were wondering if Shawn would be drafted)
Q How do talent find out that they are going to move between divisions?
A Often either myself or the lead writers or Vince will notify them or John Laurinaitis will notify the talent.
Q Do they have any say in the decision?
A Certainly. If someone really has a problem with it, you know, you can’t force someone to do something that is against their will.
Q Sure.
A So they do have a say.
Q Do the talent typically care about, you know, which division they are featured in?
A No. There was only one issue that we had, and that was with a top star who had on Tuesday was his religious day with his family. He is a born?again, and I am not sure of the right words. Those are my words.
Q Sure.
A So he is very, very religious, and he felt that he could not do the Tuesday show because he needed to be at home with his family. So we did not make that switch, even though it would have really helped our product.
So far WWE have only announced one match for tonight’s Raw (CM Punk vs William Regal) however Shawn has been advertised locally as appearing. That doesn’t mean much, as he has been advertised locally before and wasn’t on the show. As Audrey pointed out a few days ago in the chatbox, today is Shawn’s son Cameron’s birthday, so Shawn may be skipping Raw this week to be with his family.

Shawn dropped to his lowest position ever while still appearing in the Power 25 this week, coming in at number 25:
It was a demoralizing week for Shawn Michaels. Not only did he lose the Fatal Four Way Elimination Match, but he was forced to take a Clothesline from Hell so that his employer, JBL, could pick up the win.
Mona sent in these screencaps from Shawn’s Heartbreak & Triumph DVD, from the Colorado Trip:

Mike Knox & Kane v. Rey Mysterio & HBK
Knox got booed but Kane was given a hero’s welcome. Standing ovation for Mysterio and HBK. During the match HBK was vintage Flair with the chopblocks, slaps, and figure four. Double 619 by Rey and Shawn hits Super Kick on Knox to get the pin.

WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: SHAWN MICHAELS
For most of 2008, it looked as if Edge was a lock for this award. Randy Orton and Chris Jericho also had strong years. Edge and Orton both missed some time, however, and Jericho didn’t really get on a roll until the second half of the year. From January to December, it was Michaels who turned in one extraordinary performance after another, both in the ring and on the microphone. A decade after entering into a four-year retirement, Michaels, who turned 43 last July, proved that he’s still “The Showstopper.” Technically, Michaels didn’t wrestle in many main events last year, but in the eyes of many fans, his pay-per-view matches with Ric Flair, Jericho and Batista were the real main events of the respective shows. On a couple pay-per-views, he didn’t even wrestle and he still nearly stole the show with his promos. As the year came to a close, Michaels began an angle with JBL that is somewhat far-fetched, but he has succeeded thus far in making it compelling.
